Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
Bill Clinton ushered in the Dotcom era, which we are still in. When he got there, people in the White House still had typewriters on their desks.

And that same fruitcake is still circulating today as a Christmas gift.

Ellison is a tool. And his father's database sucks.

His database sucks. It keeps developers boxed in to horrid 30-year old technology. Next time, try MarkLogic.

People always talk about Chekhov's gun, but I saw the show and it was actually a phaser.

I see you're planning to be at the Green Mountain Book Festival, but will you be going to the No Kings rally before?

It's too bad they wound up being on the same day.

Of all the wretchedly ugly graffiti in this town, I find it difficult to be too perturbed about this. Maybe the jerks who get off on leaving their puerile stains everywhere are trying to prove they're not total losers.

FNAC is kind of the Amazon of France. They had to pass laws so companies like FNAC and Amazon wouldn't undercut small bookstores - which is why they still have theirs, unlike the US.

I prefer Gibert Joseph, or small bookstores.

"Honoree," hah. Not much of an honor in this case.

It hadn't realized it started on Assumption Day (it's a national holiday in the secular country of France) ... I was 10 and my parents were squares (remember that word?) so no, I didn't get to go. 🙁

As an American, I would recommend against trusting it.
July 31, 2025 at 2:23 AM
But that would require having a spine.

(Shrug) Typical. As a vegetarian for about 50 years, it puzzles me that people are so in denial of the cruelty their eating habits support. Will this wake anyone up? Probably not.

I wouldn't ignore their monopoly on the best charging stations, nor their battery storage solutions. I don't think we're rid of them, unfortunately.

Great book. Lots of technical vocabulary!

I miss the days when "wardrobe malfunction" was the big news.

I propose a new acronym:
SDS = Socialism Derangement Disorder

This describes the state of frothing-at-the-mouth blind ballistic rage that besets Republicans at the sound of the word "Socialism," blocking off all rational thought processes.

(if that doesn't work, try "vegan" 😄)

For once, he's not wrong. Basically, that's what's going on. On the other hand, it all started when the Europeans carved the place up by their own designs, ignoring the historic realities.
