I would argue some of these are better than others at fitting in the category if there's supposed to be a slantwise logic that makes it understandable.
Butt naked is redundant.
Damp squid is utterly meaningless.
Free reign does have logic to it: an unfettered ruler (tack reference intended).

I literally whispered "what the fuck". I expected a lovely blend of colors in fascinating patterns, I didn't expect a geometric mandala!!

It's lip service. He's saying that he was, but he is supposed to lead the caucus. 🙃 So if he doesn't speak for the caucus then he can stop being leader.
