I saw an advertisement for the Propel app. It is an app described as a way for folks who receive SNAP and other benefits to check their balance and status etc. Excuse me for putting my tinfoil hat on but it feels like a data mining endeavor. The Whitehouse is a sponsor of the app.

Its a fantastic program. My little is coming near the end of this program he has 7 books left before he ages out and every single book he has gotten has been the most perfect book for his age and stage.

Last year on my neighborhood buy nothing group some one was giving away a "bag of action figures that have been sitting in my attic for 30 years ". I asked to be considered for my youngest who loves action figures. I was stunned to open it and find an entire collection of MOTU figures.

I saw a poster that noted in 2003 Washington (my state) for the first time in history had a female majority on it's supreme court and that election marked only the second time in US history that a female majority was achieved on a state level. The first being Minnesota from 91-94....

I know everyone says this but I really do make the best #chocolatechipcookies. For my friends 33rd birthday trip I made 33 #cookies for us to enjoy and I was the hero of the weekend.

Im .4 lbs away frm my goal& this has been the hardest week staying on track w/my fitness & nutrition I have 1 more day to go before I weigh in If I meet my goal I plan to only weigh myself on a monthly basis & see how my normal habits align w/my workout routine Hopefully well enough to just maintain

There is some language about changes to our pension that I don't fully understand how to interpret but overall, we did it ! We have POWER in our labor and we proved that.
A new move involving the state's pension funds is in. Senate Bill 5357 lets budget writers assume a greater return on dollars invested through the state's pension accounts - 7.25% up from the 7% set by the Pension Funding Council in 2023. Assuming the higher rate of return means that the state can meet its funding obligations for the pensions while contributing less money to them. But jacking up the rate also raises the risk of investments not meeting higher targets, and the plans gradually becoming underfunded. Washington is generally known for having healthy public employee pension plans, In the next four years, the shift will allow the state to save about a billion dollars by making lower payments into its pension system

Hello! l'm sorry for the random text. I'm a state worker and union member that has has had these furlough days constantly on my mind since their announcement. I am the only worker and licensed driver in my family of 4, and the loss of pay weighs heavily on my mind. After discussing my feelings on the situation with the shop steward, |was given your number and encouraged to reach out to you. I have been trying to think of ways to tackle this looming problem, and while my idea may not be actionable, IfeelI would be letting down not only myself, but my fellow coworkers if I didn't speak up. lam on the lower end of the pay scale for state workers, and I say this without exaggeration or hyperbole; Bob Furgeson makes FIVE TIMES as much as I do. This isn't good enough for Bob apparently, who within his first month of office has accepted a pay increase of %14 over a two year period. Shortly after this was announced, he had a press release regarding a historic state budget shortfall of 4 billion dollars. His solution? To pass the ful brunt of the financial responsibility onto those who he sees as beneath him- in pay, in job title, and in status. A man that makes 5x as much as I do is telling me I need to be a team player. Ar that makes 5x as much as 1 do accepted a giant raise, allwhile taking money out of OUR collective pockets. A man that makes 5x as much as I do is teling me to sacrifice and go without, while never considering what this financial hardship will mean for us and our families He says that these furloughs are in lieu of layoffs; a veiled threat to make us comply and fall in line with his apathetic, out of touch views on us and our worth. He cares not for those who lay the foundation for Washington's success, but for the potential savings he can acrew off of their backs by force. This resentment is not only palpable but his actions shed light on the true content of his character. He asks us to give without giving in return- without ever considering what it is he is truly asking from us; to give up money for rent, food, bills, unforseen expenses, and to give up our already meager amount of monthly savings By making us start furloughs in June, he is attempting to avoid the consequences of his actions by implementing these changes after the end to our legislative session. He wants to soften the impact of his choices further by spacing out these unpaid days off; forcing us to pick up the slack for our coworkers when they are made to take mandatory, unpaid time off- something that will cause ripples of financial hardship and stress throughout his entire workforce. To put it simply: we do more work for less pay While I am not a believer in complying with draconian rules in advance, I am an advocate for malicious compliance if it means leaving a lasting, detrimental impact on his image as the Washington state governor. This legislative session has been incredibly hard on Bob; from cultivating a toxic work environment, to his inability of taxing large corporations and making them pay their fair share, to the public and explosive loss of critical staff during the most important time of year. His time as governor has been nothing short of disastrous, and I think his lack of foresight has inadvertently paved the way for state workers to put the pressure of these furloughs back onto him. We work together, we leave together, and we furlough together. As one cohesive unit, I think we should take drastic action- we all take the same days off; all 24, back-to back. Instead of work, we protest and make a spectacle for all Washingtonians to see. We grind state functions to a complete halt, and manufacture public sympathy and outrage for our situation. I have come to realize we live in a post-truth era, where the facts simply don't matter. Public perception is as impressionable as it is maleable, and those that control the narrative have the power to change the future. What is it we are impressing onto the public? That Bob Furgeson isnt paying state workers. That Bob Furgeson made us take this mandatory time off without consideration for us, our families, or the consideration tor us, our tamilies, or the people of Washington state. That Bob Furgeson padded his own wallet, while simultaneously stealing the money out of ours. And most importantly; that Bob Furgeson is simply too incompetent of a governor to run our state with any sort of effectiveness or foresight I know my fellow state workers have their own thoughts and opinions on how we Can navigate this situation, and I am very excited to hear what it is they have to say. However whatever it is we ultimately decide to do, think we should make it as drawn out and painful as possible. It shouldn't be something he can simply escape from and ignore us over. Through our actions, we can force his hand and make him re-evaluate his terrible and short-sighted choices. Through unity and solidarity with our fellow union members, we can achieve great things. Our voice and strength is in our numbers, and it's time Bob starts listening I will be there this evening, and 1 look forward to meeting you and hearing what you have to say. They just gave themselves DOUBLE DIGIT raises and they are trying to do it on the backs of #publicservants like me! Bob Ferguson is getting a 30k raise , that's nearly the entire salary of our lowest paid public servants. Below is the statement that I received 2/4
I wanted to reach out to all of you to let you know about a meeting that happened on Friday night. A group of 45 employees came together to discuss furloughs and the actions we can take to show the legislature that we are not the place to make cuts. These employees came together independent of the Union, to take a vote on calling in sick Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or as many of those days as they can. The vote passed overwhelmingly. The purpose of this is to show the impact that we make on our state government and how much our government depends on us to function. I can't tell you what to do, but be sure any actions you take will be in support of all state employees and are protected in our contract. We all have the ability to take 3 days off as per our contract without question. I hope you join me in this action and all the other employees that are going to do it. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to your shop steward

On second thought, I came up with a quick solution for the rest of this evening, a piece of plywood across the top of the raised bed. (It looks like weeds next to it but it's actually Leeks and carrots that need to be thinned out 😅)

A #silverlining to all the anxiety and stress that we are facing is that I still look forward to an hour of #groupfitness every day. It's been really good for my #mentalhealth and my #physicalhealth. I've lost 29 lbs, and I have #muscle in my forearms, which is new to me 😅 🙌💪
