Managed to get into my home studio today, fighting a cold. Happy, though, to get all the pieces cut for my next quilt.

Had a wonderful time printing up my small block today. Enjoyed the sun through my studio window, listening to Corrine Bailey Rae with a cup of coffee from Blackbird books and coffee. Perfect Friday!

Finally happy with my printing results…I dampened the paper, and a wooden spoon to lift the ink.

My favorite part of making!!

I love working out the math of the components, and in my head breaking them down into sewable pieces and parts together. The puzzle of taking the design and making it a reality.

I know some of you are like me and love it, others not do much. Which are you?

Though the piece is busy, this piece offered me a lot of comfort & mediation. From just the practice of play, to the joy of color to hand stitching the faced binding.

Looking back I am so thankful to the opportunities this year, especially it being my second year as a full time artist.

- Completed 2 artist in residencies
- 2 solo shows (NC, VA)
- 6 Juried Group shows
- Exhibited work at 3 museums
- Found a studio space

I’m fighting for …
Over the last few years, it feels like we are moving backwards. For things I would never thought we would question was true or right.
This backwards feeling made me think of the 1950s advertisements where women are featured in the kitchen either cleaning or cooking….

The winter’s afternoon sun through my studio window made being in the studio wonderful. Just the motivation I needed to start on a new project.

I love it when you can find beauty in things every day. Like the afternoon sun coming through the trees

Inspiration from my walks this week

It’s almost been 2 years (01/2022) that after 24 years working for the same software technology company I decided to leave and transition to a full-time artist. I am loving being an artist full-time but also appreciative of the experiences my corporate life gave me.
