Important clarification: early cessation ≠ adverse effects. In our cohort, only 6% of courses stopped early due to side effects, and most of these were mild. Other early cessations were due to improvement or admission for other reasons. But I totally agree that antibiotics are not entirely benign!

Thanks for highlighting our work! Just to clarify one point: while 73 courses ended early, only 25 (6%) were due to adverse drug reactions. The remainder stopped early for clinical improvement or admission for ongoing care. Overall adverse event rates were low.
