I live in a town adjacent to Silicon Valley. Average houses are selling for $2million. Buyers pay cash. Many of these homes sit empty. Anyone who grew up here can't afford to stay.

My eighth-graders impressed our tour guide with their knowledge about the American Revolution. As their teacher, I was impressed they'd listened, learned, and retained historical information. They can apply this understanding to current events. What a time to be fourteen.
