The Result ➡️ A 50/50 split was agreed upon for all of the prize money, including both participation and performance based payments - substantially exceeding the $1M cap applicable to the Club World Cup
When CONCACAF restructured the Champions League into the current Champions Cup in 2024, the players and MLS renegotiated bonuses to reflect the increased scale of the prize money. That negotiation provided a 50/50 split between MLS and the players - with the players able to earn substantially more than the $1 million cap in the CBA.

La MLS pasó la mayor parte de la semana anterior haciendo amenazas y prometiendo represalias contra la MLSPA, y los jugadores de Seattle, ya que el plantel usó camisas que expresaban su frustración por la negativa de la liga a dialogar sobre la distribución de la Copa Mundial de Clubes.
