Had a great show last weekend at #AOTB in Lake Bluff IL. Sold originals, prints, and merchandise and met lots of really nice people!! This was my second best show ever!! One of the best selling items was the Spring Flowers apron!! #postellartworks #lakebluffillinois

I tested several ideas during this winter’s Florida art shows. One was whether « small art » would sell. I painted a series of 6x6 acrylic on canvas paintings of still life’s around my home. And sell they did! They flew out of my art show tent. What do you think?

I showed at The Delray Affair over the weekend and after a slow start it was a great show. I sold EIGHT originals plus merchandise like tote bags, mugs, aprons and tea towels. Fun meeting so many art lovers and I made new artist friends.

Love leaves for their endless shapes and color variations. This one vaguely reminds me of a longhorn cow. A friend shared her sycamore leaves one Fall and I was blown away that Mother Nature made them turquoise and copper and shades of sienna.

I took an online live class on painting facial hair, glasses, and wrinkles from @pam_wenger thru #artistsnetwork and really enjoyed it. Learned A LOT and am so excited to apply what I learned to new portraits. I painted along with Pam and finished this in just over an hour. Highly recommend.

My Unmade Bed is a watercolor painting that began my series of unmade beds that I’ve slept in. It features white crumpled bedding brightened by sunlight and a pale celery colored duvet. There is favorite latte cup from Deruta IT sits on the side table next to the book I was reading at the time. Breezing Up is a watercolor painting of a friend’s white sailboat under sail in the Caribbean on a sunny day. The water is a mix of blues and turquoise and the boat is reflected in the sea. Sherry’s Roses is a pastel of white roses in a blue ceramic vase sitting on a wooden table in the late afternoon sun. Deep shadows from the French doors in my friend’s charming California kitchen make the still life come alive. Breakfast was set at my round dining room table with Italian majolica butter dish and some of my favorite mugs. The room’s cheery turquoise walls make the crème table pop. Blue hydrangeas add more color to this acrylic painting.
