I do hope you get to see it at the National. It’s beautifully displayed. I also love the ‘legend’ of the painting, true or not, stories and storytelling make us.

Great analysis of how rural exceptionalism is mobilised and practiced. The door is always apparently closing on the countryside but somehow never shuts and it won’t with this policy.
