Likewise. We’re a household of 6 (3 kids plus a MIL) and live in a suburb of Vancouver (North Van). We have one car (well, minivan) and that likely won’t ever change. I can bus downtown in 20 mins (faster than driving on average) and we walk or bike for many of our in-suburb trips.

Ya, I mean we initially formed governments to do the kinds of things that aren’t profitable to do on a national scale. Delivering physical goods to 40m citizens spread across 10m seems very hard and expensive!

I bought a CleverHood @cleverhood.bsky.social this season and love it. Keeps me dry in rainy Vancouver. Lots of ventilation for those warm/rainy days where sweat is a factor.

Remember when that article came out a few years ago talking about how some portion of humanity have no internal monologue? I think it’s people like that, who just blurt out every thought in their head, who are projecting their own tendencies.

Pretty certain that every mom would be aghast at being forced to hand over her 6-week-old baby to ANYONE, which is why it's so inhumane that there is no federal job protection for new parents, and no statutory benefits that help new mothers stay at home after giving birth. More benefits!

Honestly that makes me want to use them more. I don’t have the time to resell, and I’d rather it be used again than end up in the dump.

Really hard to say how a politician got the idea that if he is accused of something scandalous, a plausible strategy will be to attack critics, refuse the reasonable people advising you and get more negative with your campaign. No way to know where he got this idea.

In what culture would someone call that relative anything else? Are people seriously calling that person “second cousin, once removed Mary”. I’m Canadian and everyone would call that person “Auntie”. This is completely in bad faith.

I’m glad you’ve found some justification, but wouldn’t the world be a much better place if THE GOVERNMENT ran a program to provide basic necessities to it’s citizens by taxing those with more than they need in an aggressive way?
