Made this using Dreadbox Nymphes and Moog DFAM. Really enjoyed taking some time away from work and from fighting against these fascists. You have to engage in self care too.

In February I made a longer jam on the DFAM and a couple nights ago I cut out a bit that I liked, added some Digitakt and a four o. The floor kick and this is what emerged. Not my usual but I like it!

How I glitch - it’s not AI. And the app isn’t just doing it all for me. I dial in the settings to drive the combination of effects that I want for the particular image to suit the music I am pairing it with. I’m always looking for good shots to glitch later when I’m walking around.

DFAM and Typhon and Microfreak. It wasn’t intentional but the plucky rhythm is actually from the Typhon and the notes being played are the DFAM, kind of opposite the usual. The weird rhythmic noise is from the Microfreak. The photo is from Emory where I work but I glitched it.

This is how the last three weeks feel to me. I was stuck in traffic on the way to drop the kids off at school and my is just darkened by it all. Just in this sluggish fog of disbelief and despair sometimes. I am fighting hard and taking steps to be healthy, but it’s tough some days.

Been chasing a synth sound like the first four second of Compress / Repress by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Thanks to Reddit and a while just tweaking the Dreadbox Typhon, I finally dialed it in and I feel so happy. Headphones will give you happy ears.

I made this piece of music last night while exploring Arturia’s Pigments Modal engine. It’s not my usual style of music but I like how it turned out. Added felt piano run through walrus Sloer pedal which is a new favorite combo. Love the wavering pitch that happens on the reverb.

I slowed down the Pigments modal piece the other day to half speed in Ableton Live and I love it even more. The video is one I took of a puddle in our carport and glitched it into something beautiful.

I called Senators today and donated to a mutual aid fund. And then I closed all the news apps and got lost in making music that had nothing to do with any of that shit and it felt amazing. Pigment Modal engine is awesome.
