But most people don't want challenges on their commute.

We have to understand the landscape as it exists and attempt to route around it as well as across it where necessary. At the very least we need to accept their doubts and worries. 2/

You're totally right. I have been trying to train this for years with fellow cycling advocates.

Even if 'we' don't think it's much of a hill, those new to cycling definitely will. I've heard campaigners trot out lines about how rewarding hills are, or the benefits of climbing 1/

I have worked very very hard over 30+ years as a radio 4 listener, to NOT get sucked into The Archers (I lapsed briefly, early 2000s)

As a passenger I sent my dad, from out of town, on a detour through Chorlton and 3 separate Cyclops junctions he'd never seen.

I gave no instructions other than directions to location, didn't even mention the layout, and he navigated all 3 just fine.

As you imply, it's not complicated.
