Yeah my students really like Varo. I think its the aesthetic for them. Me, I like the photographers - Bravo, Yampolsky, Iturbide (ofc I like Vzlan artists more, but for varying reasons!). But I have a copy of this Iturbide and it makes me happy - thanks to the defunct Mother Jones Photography Fund.

I thinks these two might go very well together, been waiting a long time to read @helendecruz.net ‘s book. Rereading the O’Gieblyn because it is so thought provoking, I expect Wonderstruck to be similarly great.

I love this book. Stone does a masterful job tying the concepts of camay, ayni, tinku, and ukhu to each culture, and has a amazing essay showing their roots in textile manufacture (next post)
