In addition, we assess various leverage points co-designed by citizens and stakeholders to promote a socially just energy transition, and discuss options such as reconciling split incentives, expanding rent control and decommodified housing. 5/n

From a systemic perspective, we show how rising rents and energy costs strain disposable income, reinforcing dynamics among income, stress, renunciation and mental health. We highlight policy flaws that may exacerbate energy and housing vulnerabilities, esp. for tenants and low-income groups. 4/n

Based on different stakeholder and citizen perspectives, we identify a variety of local challenges and obstacles to the energy transition that are linked to five dimensions of social justice: distributive, procedural, recognitional, and intergenerational justice as well as intersectionality. 3/n
