My SO and I are living simply on a 12-acre homestead, trying our best to build a sustainable life.We have 3 usable acres, and we're raising dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens. It's not easy, but we're learning and growing every day.

Over the years, I’ve become filled with hate. Towards politics, religion, corporations, just any sort of tribalism in general. Why aren’t we just earth-crew? And yes. I am asking the universe for an alien invader. Because I don’t recognize myself anymore.

Chickens today were… obnoxious. lol. But I’m loving our new flock of ducks. In a few weeks when we let them out of the coop, it should be really fun having them around the property!

Long term Reddit user here, switching over because… I got banned. For quoting our constitution. I was apparently “inciting violence” I don’t condone unnecessary violence. I find it abhorrent. But here I am. Doing my homestead thing. And maybe hoping to connect with some potential friends.

Our first rooster butcher. Lived a better life than any “Tyson bird” free range, fed blackberries by hand, loved leftover bananas/watermelon/eggs/chicken/steak this is real chicken. Killed humanely. It was delicious.

I’ve got some aquaculture plans for our pond next spring. Help me? Ideas are more than welcome. Zone 7b catfish pond: duckweed, cardinal flower, Lillies. Should I rework the pond from catfish to bass?

I hate to say it but my garden was a failure this year. Overcome by weeds. But we are getting prepared for next year. Grocery prices are bound to rise even more. #livingpoor #selfemployed #gardening
