I think accessing the memory over ISA could be a bit slower.

I used my card in the mid 90s on a slow 386SX ( 16Mhz) set it up a a second Linux machine on home network. With 5 megabytes RAM it managed to compile the kernel, it took quite a while.

I had a slightly smaller board that would hold 4MB of 256kB SIPPs. It came with 512kB installed. I made a trade with someone and got the remaining 3.5MB worth... quite a bit of soldering but it worked.

If I remember right, the early models had improved but incompatible graphics similar to the IBM PCjr,SN76489 sound chip and DOS in ROM that set them apart from the typical true blue PC and PC clones from that era.

I agree. The pictures are nice. I looking through the add I some nostalgia even though I never had a Tandy PC. Maybe $300-$600 from a very interested collector.

Essentially, the YAML in ESPhome is coding at a higher level. It's not perfect but pretty good and one can get a lot done without needing think about C++ or the API internals. Of course if needed, one can as much C++ as one wants into the YAML with lamba functions. I'm very impressed!

So far I am doing everything through the web gui and quite happy with it. I'll let it do it's thing for now.

ESPhome is something else. I was initially quick skeptical how much one could get done with simple YAML configuration files.

This is the first time that I have bought raspberry pi based hardware that I haven't logged in to (via ssh or terminal) shortly after booting. So far I don't have a `root` password or ssh key. 😱 I have yet to "log in" and for the time being, I don't plan to.

Kind of funny, initially, I really wanted to ssh into the Home Assistant yellow. I read through a lot of documentation in order to figure out how to do it the `right way` without breaking stuff. Then I realized, this stuff works quite well and maybe I don't need to log in and break things, yet.

I bought a Home Assistant Yellow a little over a week ago after playing with it on my NAS and realizing the limits of that setup and that I wound need a bit more if I wanted to use Matter and Dirigera from IKEA.

I remember enjoying many a Long island ice tea served by Suzette. Killer kool-aid was nice too. I remember Michael-X playing O Fortuna by Apotheosis and he would oven end the night with Thank god I'm a country boy. :-)
