Amen! They are just memos to the executive branch. Not laws!

Agreed. But this was basically a fait accompli when the NU Board pushed out President Schill and replaced him with former NU President Henry Bienen, who is very close to conservative megadonor and board member Pat Ryan. Why bring back an 86 yr old w ties to the right if not to cut a deal w Trump?

My wife’s great….grandfather served under Garfield’s command during the Civil War. He truly was an American hero, a largely self-taught military man and fervent enemy of the “Slave Power”. A tragedy that he was shot and (probably) condemned to death by his incompetent doctors. What might have been!

Vienna is my favorite European city, and I’ve done my fair share of traveling. Liked it so much I agreed to go back again when my now wife had it on her “must visit” list and we planned to be in Central Europe. Apologies to Stockholm, Prague and, yes, Paris, all of which are amazingly awesome.

Just adding that this video was apparently a couple blocks from Washington Elementary and Dewey Elementary, not Lincolnwood. There is separate video of a group of masked goons by Lincolnwood Elementary being confronted by community members.

There’s video of them handcuffing a landscaper near Lincolnwood Elementary. Dude was an American citizen. They released him, and all stuck out their hands for a “no harm, no foul” shake. They then quickly reverted to form, mocking the woman recording it saying “we’ll like your post”. Garbage people.

0.0% chance. Who, exactly, is Rahm’s constituency supposed to be? Greenroom denizens of the beltway? Good luck with that!

Jordan Wood’s husband, Jake Lipsett, is a co-founder of mothership strategies and remains a partner. They have been criticized for spammy fundraising tactics with their affiliated PACS and paying themselves huge fees. In addition to the politico article, has also been covered by WaPo and others.

He could apologize for his partner running a scam/spam PAC, Mothership, that grifts small donors and spends little on actual candidates.

Democrats shunned a top firm over its controversial fundraising practices. It hasn’t gone away.
Mothership Strategies was fiercely criticized for its aggressive fundraising tactics and high fees. It’s found new clients.

Didn’t she already use that canned answer with Durbin? Come on, at least come up with a new way to be disrespectful!

Here’s mine, from a 1955 real estate listing and present day. Had no idea about the Nordlie connection until I went to the Evanston History Center to do some research and see if they had anything relevant and, indeed, they had all the original building permits, etc.

Nordlie designed my house in Evanston, completed in 1929 and built on spec by OJ Vevig, a Norwegian-American small-time contractor. Last summer I went to check out a couple of Nordlie’s homes in Sauganash (6117 N. Knox, 6153 N. Kilpatrick) and an apt building in West Ridge (2107 Jarvis). Was fun!

This is trash, what’s the matter with you guys? Now, I’ll stay tuned for the 454th op-ed from Paul Vallas decrying everything about the city he doesn’t live in.

As a local, I am not a huge Brandon Johnson fan and think he’s sort of bungled his mayoralty to date, but credit where credit is due. He is spot on here. Well done, Mr. Mayor!

Didn’t you just publish essentially this same article a few days ago? Will you be following this up with an article about how Trump’s failure to control homicides in Mississippi and refusal to grapple with the implications for quality of life for everyday Mississippians puts him in political peril?
August 15, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Never said he was my “hero”, you implied that to fit a narrative. Goodbye now!

If you’d like to be a member of the “FDR was trash because racist southern democrats existed in 1932” crowd, it’s certainly your prerogative. I think you’re misguided, but you do you.

Chicagoan here. He’s been the best governor we’ve had in my lifetime. A low bar to clear, admittedly (lookin at you Blago), but he’s done a great job. Might be time for another “class traitor” aka FDR….

Come on. I lived in DC from 2001-2003 and it was a bit sketchy in parts. Visited a few years back and the place was unrecognizable, it’s like Disneyland now, full of luxury condos, fancy restaurants, etc. Is there some crime? Sure. But if that’s the concern then Trump should take over Louisiana.

And you have useful idioits / corporate Dems like Bill Daley pushing for unilateral disarmament in the states where Dems do control redistricting.
