I misspoke - I agree that loss of smell is a symptom of LC. But if that is all you experience (as does my husband), it is not soul-killing. The PEM, POTS, etc make living life painfully difficult. What we had with CFS far outweighed what he has now thankfully.

I can see why you’d want to avoid being lumped with CFS - it’s gotten zero respect. But LC is going to be a ‘thing’ until they continue fail to find a pharmaceutical solution (there won’t be) and then it will become psychological (in your head). And CFS’ers will be there waiting for the refugees.

The set of symptoms for CFS is long & varied - not everyone has all of them and some of them come and go. Loss of smell is not LC - my husband lost his smell from covid 8mo ago - but it is not the debilitating condition worth a global medical study. It’s not LC. It’s a breeze compared to CFS.

And even though I have rebooted my system from CFS, there are lingering issues with the heart - CFS/LC causes permanent damage to multiple organs.

All of those other symptoms also occur in CFS. It’s not simply post-exertional malaise (the fatigue part). It’s POTS, brain fog, hormonal disruption, all of it. When the first cases of LC hit, the CFS community knew exactly how this would all go down. There is no difference between them.

I’m glad to see this. As someone who suffered from (& managed to recover from) chronic fatigue syndrome, I feel confident LC is nothing more than CFS triggered by COVID instead of EB (or any other significant viral load). CFS/LC will never be taken seriously -sadly. It’s a devastating condition.

It will be convicted criminals that folks will have a hard time defending. Think life in prison, sexual predators, mass murderers. Once he gets us calmed down about that and the precedent has been set, anyone is fair game for him, even if he has to manufacture false crimes to arrest them.
