I had a fantastic time botanizing with @seedystudies.bsky.social in Talladega County this week! Prunus alabamensis, an S1 species was found and vouchered, and seeds were collected from Manfreda virginica and Goodyera pubescens.

Surveying for springs in the Cahaba water table. We use a thermal camera and YSI meter to collect water quality data like the water temp, dissolved oxygen, and pH.

Jan 17th: “Day in the office”
We collect a ton of data from streams and rivers across Alabama. To do so, we have to get creative with how to store our sensors securely- sometimes we have to repair our “ingenious” rigging.
PS. My waders had a hole in them and I had very cold and very soggy socks 🙃
