Cousins has no leverage. Keep him until he waives his clause. Until then he’s an excellent and expensive backup.

I personally believe he suffered a setback with his Achilles. As he said he didn’t forget how to play QB. He’d be a huge asset to a team in need of a QB and in a weird spot like CLE.

You have the dead money anyway - $10M for Kirk as the backup is an easy decision. Besides, keeping him gives you leverage because he absolutely does not want to be a backup. He’ll waive his no trade clause and you work out a deal with Cleveland. Wishful thinking on my end.

It costs $5-8M for a backup anyway so why cut him to save $2M?
