Response to my letter to @sentuberville.bsky.social expressing concerns about the breakdown at the Social Security Administration. He never says he will fight for our benefits.

Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts regarding Social Security. As your senator, I welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of all who call the great state of Alabama home. Social Security benefits millions of Americans, helping those who have retired, those who are disabled, survivors of workers who have died, and dependents of beneficiaries. However, the system is now facing significant financial challenges. The ratio of workers to retirees is decreasing, and the life expectancy of Americans has greatly increased since the creation of the program in 1935. This means that there are less people putting money into the system, and there are more people drawing money out of the system for a greater number of years than was originally expected. According to the Social Security Administration, the program’s costs will soon exceed its income, forcing the agency to start using its $3 trillion trust fund to offset this deficit. Unless changes are made, the trust fund is projected to be depleted in 2035. The Social Security system is crucial to millions of Americans’ livelihoods, and as the Senate discusses legislation that affects it, I will keep your position in mind.
