I felt bad that Cal’s amazing season wasn’t going to be rewarded with the MVP because he’s against a generational player in his prime but after reading your responses to the comments and your obsession with folks fellating the Yankees, I am now happy the catcher who hit some HRs didn’t win.

Sustained excellence is soooo boring.

Right fielder that hits good? Cmon, I hate the Yankees but there is zero good faith in your argument. The vote shows how close it was and it’s a regular season only award. Don’t be that guy.

Many congratulations Mayor. So happy for Seattle tonight.

Keep cycling through 23-27 yo max effort pitchers who stay 95+. The secret is to develop and get rid of them before you have to pay them. Like RBs in football. The game keeps changing but I enjoyed Bassitt and Yamamoto both dominating in their own ways this year.

You may be right but it can’t be that different after the pandemic. I think the explanation that hitting .300 just isn’t valued anymore. 4 Ks and a bomb is a good day at the plate now.

Ah, I missed that. So my rough calculation of 150 in MLB was 78 in the NL. 26 of 78 is wild when you think of the late 60’s and today where a .240 hitter can be a superstar if he hits 30+ HR. I would like to see the trend line on the number of qualified hitters each year. Thanks Scott!

Pretty sure it’s the standard to qualify for awards like highest BA. Strictly from memory it was 3.1 plate appearances x team games, so just over 500.

More than 1 in 3 batters hit over .300 at the turn of the century? That can’t be right. Even if each team only averaged 5 hitters that qualified, that’s still 150 batters and more than 50 hit .300? I’ll check BR but that seems high.

You got this Katie! Monday is going to be a great day for Seattle. Supporting from Missouri.
