Are there any good write-ups about this phenomenon? It seems clearly true, and maybe it's just "absolute power corrupts absolutely" but it seems different - it's not really power they have, it's just complete freedom from consequence or accountability though maybe that's the same thing.

Awesome write up - what a dream that would be, living in a Venus cloud city!

I felt that, until she started competitive dance a few years into school 😭

Look at the mitts on those suckers!

I had these when I was a kid - I can still remember them vividly 40 years later - a full size real-ass tiger wandering into my bedroom, me frozen in fear, another time walking down to the basement and finding my entire family sitting in la-Z-boys as skeletons - INTENSELY real

Immediately started trying to trick my corporate Gemini 3.0, was a lot of fun. I did get it to tell me what criteria they use to decide whether or not to scrape a public git repository - presence of an explicit license file (MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD), and number of stars ("5, 10, or more")

I didn't know the flight number but yes - I remember seeing a show about that one and it did pop into my head. The other one was when a maintenance supervisor decided to help out his crew and remove a bunch of screws from an aileron but didn't log it properly, and a shift change missed it. Tragic

Did anyone else call this "hodge podge lodge" when they were growing up? i.e. just clearing out the leftovers in the fridge for dinner, regardless of what they were or how they paired? I loved it, and it was efficient

One caveat to this is when my visiting niece and nephew figured out they could ask alexa to play any song they wanted, and this was in the height of baby shark mania. That shit got unplugged real quick

For two weeks while hitting an insane software deadline in 2008 I must have looped the entire OK Computer album 150 times

Love it, took me a second but it was cool to see it snap into place

I'm not sure who needs to hear it, but someone should tell them it's ok to win a boring game

The old women in the village crossed themselves, and whispered crazy things, strange things - "el hombre sin hombros"

I don’t even like grilled cheese sandwiches but I want that grilled cheese sandwich

Thinking about this more than I should but I think I’m turning - Ripley knew about the “hundreds of eggs” she knew what just one could do. Given what they saw at the perimeter, proceeding inside was egregiously stupid - but once they were in, it was over. Motherfuckin Gorman man

Fair - and besides, the main point here is your art is sick as hell, I love it and can’t wait to see more - amazing stuff!

Totally! She was as green as the marines with respect to a xeno hive, it was all new to her too
November 11, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Gotta disagree, I think they were doomed the moment they entered the hive - they rely on their motion sensor tech which is useless when the enemy is embedded in the walls and wait to silently emerge at the perfect ambush point. Riley didn’t even know what they’d face - they were screwed

I was familiar with a few basic ones from the dictionary, honestly didn't realize there was an entire shadow alphabet - fascinating
