I’ve been streaming live coding and someone is offering to pay me to consult on his work on stream tonight. It feels like a milestone but I’m not sure to where.

I wanted to share a little project I worked on last year that feels a specific niche. If you need to take notes on rfid tags and all you have is a laptop and a cheap 40 dollar usb reader, I gotchu. thinklikemike.com/rfid-pouch-i...

I’m told my great grandfather was a high court judge for a certain dictator back in the day. He eventually was removed from that country when he fell out of favor. My grandmother used to recall him smoking cubans on the porch, cursing the dictator. Due process for some means due process for none.

As it’s Cesar Chavez Day, I thought I’d share some local history I’ve been reading up on. During the Oxnard Labor Strike of 1903 over 200 Mexican and 500 Japanese farm workers crossed language and culturural barriers, unionized, survived being shot at and won. ufcw324.org/1903-oxnard-...

I think I’m entering my era of living in a cabin in the woods. Except it is a studio loft in an industrial park with lots of houseplants.

As much as I’ve enjoyed the cultural exchange, Red Note is still an app for upper middle class. The honeymoon is starting to fade and the conversations are becoming less inquisitive and more polarized. Cats are still solid though. 🐈

A nicecity Red Note allows me is its a serves as window to ask my esoteric questions to that side of the world. I learned a bit about Chinese Cryptids, such as the cat-faced granny that terrorized children a while back.

A few days into xhs (Red Note) and still liking it. I feel in a week or two the honeymoon period will be over. I’m seeing folks from Mexico, Canada, Europe migrate over as well and if it continues to build a global feel I’ll continue to use it.

In the 90’s there was a feeling that the internet was going to bring us closer together as a global community of understanding. I feel that this Red Note situation reminds us that the dream is still alive, one cat tax at a time.

As a TikToker I jumped on the bandwagon and hopped on Red Note. Having some lovely conversations about hiking and beaches with new Chinese friends.

What’s everyone’s go to news source? Seeing my favorite TikTok reporter get thrown under the bus on NPR and having Bezos block a satire of him in the newspaper he owns, makes me question the legitimacy and relevancy of my current sources.
