If your comfort requires another to suffer or miss out on basic needs and rights you do not deserve it.

If you need someone to be “less than” to feel empowered, then you do not deserve it and should not have it.

Your rights to freedom should not ever impinge on another’s right to life.

Calls for equality are not saying that marginalised lives have inherently more worth than others.

It is saying that those with privilege can and should experience some discomfort to allow space for others to live with the same rights as the privileged.

I believe that James McGrath is still waiting on the pre-poll numbers.

When over a third of the votes that get you over the line are as a result of preferences you might want to consider what that means for your policies. The PM spoke about governing for all Australians in his victory speech, lets hope he means it.

In 2007 Labor had 52.7% TPP and this year it is looking around 55%. This suggests that Labor was not the first choice for a lot of voters but were viewed as preferable to the alternative. I don’t think this is quite the ringing endorsement that is being suggested by many.

I do, all too well. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done in making meaningful change. At least there is hope that this work can be progressed under this government. The alternative would have likely led to the undoing of what little has been done.

Not just compulsory but we also have preferential voting which avoids the issues that first-past-the-post systems have. We can safely vote for minor parties that better represent our interests knowing that our vote is not “wasted”. Our PM also wants to expand and improve our social health system.

Only heard from Vasta every three years. He was absent from parliament sitting days more than a fifth of the time. No idea what he was actually doing as he did less than nothing for his electorate. Hopefully Cook will be active in the community.
