Now that it has been given to its recipient, I can share photos of my most complex colourwork project to date: the #GuardianCowl by Hunt Hand Knits. I doubled the length to make a loose cowl.

These cheerful quilt blocks were the perfect project for a cloudy, snowy day. 48 blocks completed and I won thread chicken!

Colour-grouped stacks of brightly coloured blocks using the Strip Twist pattern await their assembly into a lap quilt. There is enough thread on this nearly empty cone for perhaps one or two more quilt blocks.

Tonight's dinner theme was Groundhog Day. We had fun interpreting the theme creatively to justify the dishes. Details in alt text, more in comments.

Carrot ginger soup. Carrots and ginger both grow in the ground, and the soup was pureed/ground. Meatballs in tomato sauce. Tomatoes grow from the ground, and were crushed/ground to make the sauce. The meatballs were made from ground beef. Spaghetti: wheat grows from the ground, and is ground to make flour. Pork dumplings, because they contain ground "hog".

This morning's grocery shop took a little longer than usual. We checked labels, bought Canadian wherever possible, and did not buy a single American item. We are not alone: the shelves were overflowing with orange juice but the apple juice was sold out.
