"bad luck" in the sense of not "good luck" and specifically in inverted commas.

Another Sunday down. Dilemna now is: not two Sundays left till 6th January. All Christmas decorations have to be gone by then, or the bad luck which seems to be sweeping across the world will hit me,too

I know it is Science Fiction Day, but I feel I have to stick to my genre - and I see a story luring behind this picture. A teddy bear given to a child at birth by her maternal grandparents and a doll given to the same child by the same grandparents on her first birthday - in the 1950s.

Counting back from Christmas now - one Sunday down. Seems a shame not to use up the advent candles.

Peter`s (known from Is there a therapist on board?) advent calender. A letter a day: yesterday`s was W - Wings, Steve Winwood & Wishbone Ash. Today`s is: F. So, it is Fleetwood Mac, Steve Forbett, Georgie Fame and Peter Frampton - more than just background music. What pleasurable pastime.

Seems this book really is special......

As yesterday was such an important day for my husband and I, and this book means so much to us, we spent the evening listening to the "soundtrack" of the book on Amazon music.
"Peter`s playlist for the therapist" - 4,5 hours of nostagia.
Feel-good-music to simply make one "feel good".

If music be the food of love, then this is the ultimate love story.
Or, as Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch sang in 1967 - "If music be the food of love, prepare for indigestion"

I do love this car. 1966 Jaguagr MKII. 59 years old - an absolute beauty and now with updated TÜV. Sailed through without a problem.

My apologies - the company behind the culture forum is:
Adolf Würth GmbH & Co KG.
They offer so much, the least I can do is get the name right.

Yesterday I was in Künzelsau, Germany and I attended an excellent talk by Theo Koll with the title "Stirbt die Wahrheit"
(Is Truth Dying?). I can thoroughly recommend this interesting, thought-provoking, and challenging talk.
My sincere thanks go to the Culture Forum of Würth AG.

After experiencing "All you need is love" in the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart on Wednesday evening, I find myself in a decidedly nostalgic mood. It is to be a Beatles weekend - first the singles, then the LPs. Thanks to the cast of the show - you did a brilliant job!

Talking of Monserrat, may I mention that Charles Riley (a character from Empire Close) came to England from there?

Happy New Year!
I could write a list of meaningful (and sincere) wishes for the year ahead, but it would be too long for this post.
So, "wishing us all for a year full of peace and joy" will have to suffice.

In Germany, one can read greetings wishing a "frohes, besinnliches Weihnachtsfest. I can`t find a perfect translation for "besinnlich", but I do like "compassionate" - feeling for, and feeling with, others. So, politically incorrect as I am, I wish everyone a Merry, Compassionate Christmas.

Our hearts are heavy this Christmas
For the world is going berserk
The "old norms" are no longer
And dangers in dark corners lurk.

Still, we send our Christmas greetings
Sincerely wishing seasonal cheer
Hoping thus a dash of happiness
Reaches all those we hold so dear

"you`ve got to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was" was true when Abraham LIncoln said it, and it is true today. One can`t just sit back and rest, and expect everything to be OK on the night. If you want change, do something.

"When a man faces destiny, destiny ends and man comes into his own" was once said by Andrè Malraux. Nowadays one would need to gender this more comprehensively, but it
remains true all the same.
Especially for the main character in Empire Close. Enjoy

For anyone contemplating buying "Everybody Needs Somebody": every book sold means a child gets a breakfast!
For every book sold, whether ebook, paperback, or hardback, I am donating to the charity "Magic Breakfast" to ensure a breakfast for a hungry school child in the UK.
