As an Albertian that doesn't surprise me in the least. Smith and much of the UCP base are fans of Trump and hope PP will mirror the US government should the Conservatives win the next election.

Smith is playing a very dangerous game. This will play well with the base of the UCP party but will probably piss off many Albertans, particularly those who grew up in other parts of Canada.
