Another one: my grandma made the driest turkey in existence. We never knew why until my uncle offered to make it one year and she didn't want him to have to be up all night draining the turkey. That's how we found out she cooked it on a cookie sheet, which had to be drained so it didn't overflow

My Dad remarried and new inlaws hosted Thanksgiving. MIL didn't remember to thaw the turkey and refused to serve anything until it was done. Adults drank, kids snuck cookies, everyone hungry. She thawed it in their hot tub, which had to be degreased later. Turkey was gray and no one would eat it
