That's exactly it, she is a huge name and made huge strides in the field. It feels like she is throwing all that away to grasp at some ghost that will justify her gesamtbild, one that is very reactionary. A waste!

There is a cool book, “Frege and Fascism”, about Frege’s embrace of antidemocratic ideas and nationalism, leading to his descent into fascism (and the batshit insane antisemitism).
