Mostly up for sci fi, comics, game and rock and roll, plus a bit of politics. More of a listener than a talker.
I am a similar age and it is true that WW2 loomed large in our imaginations and our culture. None of us wanted to be Nazis or thought they were the good guys.

The plucky entrepreneur who invented those lumps that grow on your feet.

His descendant Paul Bunyan the third is Secretary of Podiatry in the Trump administration and one of the principal figures in the shadowy conspiracy known as “Big Feet”.

Fascist Yoga by Stewart Home covers some of this territory. I’d also recommend Doppelgänger by Naomi Klein.

Don’t be too harsh on him: if you check the Tatooine phone book there are thousands of Kenobis and Skywalkers, basically the equivalent of Smith or Patel.

For some reason my mum and dad had this (and many other) Giles collections. I loved poring over the detailed drawings even if the point of it all was often well beyond my understanding as a 10- year old in the 70s.

I’m always accidentally buying governments. I see one I like look of at B&Q or Sainos and I am half way home before I remember I’ve got two in the loft and another I leant to my father in law.

Surely that moustache must be top of the list?

Oh no, you’re clearly a thrusting young buck plugged in to the latest hip youth sounds, while I am just a wheezing geezer marinated in skiffle, and trad jazz. The algorithm does not lie!

I am also reminded of “The Background to History” from Monty Python’s Matching Tie and Hankerchief, but that likely reflects my listening age (74 according to Spotify).

74!!!!!!

I follow you cos my kid likes your books but I am so outraged I am dropping this wherever like some angry guy busting into conversations at, eg, a wedding or funeral etc.

Seriously considering the Spotify boycott now.

It is a slow day in the office.

It is the difference between mid-life and old age: everything that sucks when you are 45, you cherish when you are 60.

David Bowie pioneered the use of raising capital based on future music sales - the ‘Bowie Bonds’ in the 90s - so maybe he could be considered a rock star economist?

And there’s a bit of metaphysics in the background of Blackstar and so he could be a rock star philosopher, also.

See? The Fall are from the 70s and 80s and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are from the 90s. Bah! 74 my eye!!

This also applies to anyone’s great idea for a novel.

The reason for that, Elon, is that you are colossal fool driven by a narcissistic belief in your own infallibility, fuelled by money and drugs.

Maybe they could have followed The Beatles approach and got the drummer to sing a comedy number on every record?

To clarify, Greenwich is not on the tube.

I watched Thor the Darkworld at Greenwich Picturehouse. Everyone had a good old laugh when Thor jumped on the tube at Charing Cross to get back to Greenwich.

Fingers crossed!

You are probably right it is not a done deal, and there are a few years to go, but it is an imminent danger.

You realise that Farage is going to be the next PM, right?

It is not a matter of “could be worse” but “WILL be worse”. Catastrophically so.

Yeah they just lost a customer. It is a shame, I like Gail’s but fuck him.

All very well until the day you wake up and he has eaten your face.

I see from Wikipedia that this was kept off the number 1 spot in the UK charts by the timeless Jimmy Osmond release, “Long-haired Lover From Liverpool”.
