I first picked up this book because I wanted a fun read for a long road trip, but it caught me by one of the best things a writer can accomplish: subverting its reader's expectations and twisting its genre on me mid-way

Thank you Richard Silken. Because I, too, was embarassed by this desire for something so good and so impossible.

Han Kang's The Vegetarian was my favorite read of 2024. It was spectacularly written. Kang conveyed such atmospheric tension and suspense through three narrowed lens of perspective, yet still created a complex plot formed around the speculation of others on the protagonist. #1 of my reccomendations.
