I’m thrilled to share that we have received Run for Something’s endorsement, our second this week!

Started in 2017, RFS provides support and resources for the next generation of working-class candidates who are tired of sitting back and waiting for things to improve.

SI has the highest instances of pregnancy related medical emergencies in the City and, with no public hospitals, the availability and accessibility of medical care just isn’t where it needs to be.

Staten Islanders have enough to worry about everyday, they should’t have to worry that their elected officials aren’t looking out for them.

Unfortunately our current Borough President has been caught flatfooted more often than not, reacting to issues he should have been out in front of.

ENDORSEMENT ALERT

Last night, our campaign was endorsed by the Staten Island Democratic Party!

This is a big deal for a few reasons.

Staten Island, NYC and our country needs a new generation of working class leadership who has real life experience dealing with the problems we face rather than continuing to elect career politicians who are detached from the issues.

Today, I joined neighbors, business owners, elected official representatives and community organizations, all brought together by Bay Street & Beyond, for an information session and comprehensive needs assessment for the Bay Street Corridor at the Gerard Carter Community Center in Stapleton.

SI is again on the losing end of a one size fits all plan. Our borough has endured years of MTA mismanagement resulting in delays, cuts and neglect.

As the rest of the country enjoys growing rates of homeownership, Staten Islanders are facing too many obstacles to housing affordability coupled with a lack of leadership from Borough Hall. Like many other Staten Islanders, my family rents because of these obstacles.

Today, Amazon workers here on Staten Island are going on strike due to management’s refusal to come to the table and negotiate in good faith. They have my support, as do any workers fighting for fair wages and safe working conditions.

Thank you to the Democratic Organization of Richmond County for inviting me to speak at last night’s general meeting and for the warm welcome. Working class Staten Islanders are hungry for a new generation of leadership, one that fights and advocates for them when it counts.

I’m excited to be speaking about how we can make Staten Island work for everyone and the need for a new generation of working class leadership at next week’s meeting of the Democratic Organization of Richmond County (SIDORC).

Instead of talking about bakeries, we should have been talking about this. Yes, there is a lot of work to be done to fix affordability issues we face, but when so many of our neighbors aren’t making enough to live above the poverty line, we need to ask, “Why?”
