Also I LOVE Charlie so this is coming from someone who adores her character.

Anyway this was longer than I wanted it to be, but it’s just something I’ve noticed online. People don’t like when other people just share an opinion lmao

…about that. They are just saying that they find her annoying. If someone was to say that Charlie is a poorly written protagonist and that’s why she’s annoying, then you could argue against that because they aren’t claiming that there’s is an actual issue with her writing.

An example of this would be if someone was to say “I think Charlie Morningstar is annoying and don’t really like her” that is just an opinion someone has and even if it differs from yours, you don’t have to comment saying stuff like “you don’t understand her” they aren’t talking…

However, if someone were to say that they think a certain character is written poorly and THAT is why they don’t like them, this would be an effective use of the ”complex character“ argument. Because someone is claiming there is an issue with the writing that is making them not likable.

The “people just can’t understand complex characters” argument falls flat when it’s on a post saying that a person just doesn’t like the character. People are allowed to have opinions y’all, it’s not a personal crime against you if they don’t like your favorite character😭
