A&E waiting rooms are hell on earth. Corridors are lined with beds full of the infirmed. Patients hooked up to drips openly weep in their chairs. Some have been here for 29 hours. 6 week waiting times for ultrasounds. It does not make you feel safe. It makes you feel like you’re going to die.

The year I moved to Los Angeles young Misti put on her Christmas list that she wanted the Beach Boys to come live with us. Because she loved Little Surfer Girl so much.
