The traitor was originally Saavik. Which would’ve helped the narrative coherence of the films and made it an actual mystery since it *obviously* couldn’t have been Saavik. That being said, despite the pros I listed, I feel it would’ve ultimately harmed the film if they had gone that way.

I largely agree, but I *can* imagine Hoskin’s Mario telling Bowser his painting is trash (…or worse). Not that that’s the version they’re going for. Or would want to remind people that it exists.
