In my personal opinion, I believe they should excel at animated shorts. Much like the BURN-E short that was included with the DVD of the movie.

I believe it is possible they were given a weapon system to defend themselves of any hostiles. Although, considering the one responsible for their development was the same company responsible for the over excessive garbage issue in general, I cannot see the logic
