The only way I can see Smash 6 working is if they cut the roster in half and change up the gameplay enough to where a ton of people would keep playing Ultimate competitively like people do with Melee.

The only thing I can think of that could *possibly* justify this is if the game isn't a full $70 or so. Like, it'd be harder to justify a 64 GB card cutting THAT far into the profit of like a $40 game.
Or this is just the bone headed decision of the week that makes me wonder what they're thinking.

It is possible to do a Switch 2 Edition without a Game Key Card, but then they're a code in a box which is way, way worse.

Building on the previous generation's specs isn't always a good thing. The Wii U was little more than a souped up Wii, which made it great for compatibility, but that limited what they could do for new games, and resulted in barely any third party support.

Soft modding has literally never been allowed in any game console's EULA, and the consequences have basically always included bricking.

I mean, it's hard to believe that 10 years ago, people thought it was the end of the line for Nintendo, but now they have a good chance of coming out on top against Sony. The problem is that Xbox needs to do the opposite of everything they're doing right now and fast to have any chance.

Honestly, I hope the next Smash cuts the roster in half and takes things in a different direction. I think Ultimate is just about the most they could by just making the game bigger.

The used game came from a story where someone bought used Switch 1 game cards from FB Marketplace that had been dumped and posted online. They called Nintendo about it and proved they, in fact, had the original official cards and their online was reinstated. Nothing to it but bad luck.

Before it was confirmed I thought they would do exactly that for exactly that reason instead of a re-release of 3D All-Stars or a standalone SMG2 like others seemed to think.
