9) If you’re trying to get in shape for a particular event and using all kinds of unhealthy quick fixes, then be prepared to put on more weight than you’ve lost once you stop. Lifestyle change over unrealistic goals.
10) Find a way to enjoy it! If you’re not loving the process, you’ll give up.

8) Its called a weight loss journey for a reason. There will be ups and downs - no journey is just a straight road with no bumps

6) Celebrate the wins like fitting into an item of clothing for the first time in a few years.
7) Do it for YOU. I know this is on here twice but its really that important. What you do with your body is nobody else’s business but your own!

5) Listen to experts. And I mean real experts - not online quacks who spout BS for profit. Speak to your GP, find a therapist (if you need one), listen to qualified dietician, work with a PT not just focussed on a before/after photo for socials so they can charge others £££

3) There is NO QUICK FIX! No fad diet or workout plan, no operation or drug that will do the hard work for you.
4) Unless you tackle the underlying causes for why there’s been a weight gain (whether medical or mental) then it simply won’t work.

2) Compliments are nice but you have to want to do it for yourself. As with most things, external validation won’t work for the long term. The work has to be internal. And keep most of what you’re doing off socials unless you’re mentally prepared for 1.2m different opinions on what you’re doing.

People have been asking me about how I’ve achieved the weight loss. I’m no expert but I know that for me, having been overweight all my life and having started the weight loss journey I’m currently on in 2008; I’ve learned a few key things:

1) It’s a marathon, not a sprint! Health is wealth
