Blurring the lines between the landscapes of Folk Horror, Hauntology and the Urban Wyrd. Taking in films, literature, music, art and performance.
Fascinating take on the lore of witchcraft and passing down of the raft through birth.

There's a bizarre scene in this film where the characters hide from a passing helicopter. It is set in 1973 but relates to a 'hidden' community who've remained in the embrace of the 1700s. Perhaps a not so subtle methaphor that the more we move forward the less we actually progress? Possibly.

Season 2 on its way. Brilliant comedy with the amazing Bridget Christie embracing folklore and standing up to toxic masculinity, urbanisation and the menopause. Soundtrack has Stick in the Wheel and Angeline Morrison too.

Horrifying Children examines weird and eerie children’s television and literature via critical analysis, memoir and autoethnography. There has been an explosion of interest in the impact of children’s television and literature of the late twentieth century.

Interesting story on Sunday Brunch about Phillip Stone (The Caretaker in The Shining). Andy Nymam (Ghost Stories) received a rather sad letter from Stone thinking that his character 'Delbert Grady' would lead to more opportunities or get more recognition which sadly didn't happen.

For those looking for a dramatisation of The Black Monk of Pontefract story, this is presently on Amazon Prime. Some scenes may have been hugely exaggerated for dramatic effect. Based on a 'true' story.

Dark Match brings us the 1980s small time wrestling scene where a high paycheck convinces a troupe to fight in the back waters of the US.
It isn't long before they realise that each match is part of a ritual summoning based around air, water, earth and fire. Daft fun.

@fesshole.bsky.social Girlfriend much appreciated having a candle-lit dinner at the table with the 'good' cutlery and decent plates and posh nosh for valentine's day. She seems to believe it some sweeping romantic gesture.

Haven't the heart to tell her I've been binge-watching Hannibal on Netflix.

The window display of Enki in King's Heath made me happy today. This world is dragging me down, so little nuggets of joy are much welcome.
