We have to be willing to sit down with communities and figure out where costs are being added to the process and how to remove them.

This is the kind of detailed work we did at WEDC to understand risks for developers and help communities move projects forward.

When I led @WEDCCommunity.bsky.social we focused on practical, community-driven solutions.

In Ladysmith, we supported turning an empty school into housing.

In Gilman, we helped a dad and his son transform a vacant nursing home into apartments.

It costs far more to help someone after they’ve fallen into homelessness than it does to prevent it in the first place.

Wisconsin needs a proactive strategy, not constant crisis response.
