“I know you're tired
And you ain't sleeping well
Uninspired
And likely mad as hell
But wherever you are
I hope the high road leads you home again
To a world you want to live in”

— Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
When did real life turn into an episode of the Simpsons? Mr. Burns tried this already.

Bluesky After Dark needs better writers. I’m canceling my free subscription in protest. Now excuse me while I go devise a way to forget what I read.

Shadow was a tyrant when he was younger, but he’s mellowed with age. He quieted some more when his “momma” passed earlier this year. Hannah, my soul dog, showed him the ropes when he came home at 12 weeks old. Chihuahuas have terrible reputations, some deserve, but they are lovable ❤️

Same with my girl Hannah. I met her back in 2011. I was undecided but I just felt the bond kick in at our first meeting. I went back for her the very next day. We had a wonderful 14 years together. Congratulations and may you have many wonderful adventures together!

But I do love the Icelandic tradition of giving books for Christmas. Made this bookworm’s heart flutter :)

I loved Reykjavik because of how clean and quaint and colorful it is, but South Iceland was almost unreal with how beautiful it is. I hope to make it back someday.

Have you heard about the Yule Lads?! Icelandic Christmas folklore is metal lol

Sometimes you got to call ‘em like you see ‘em. Stay weird Asheville!

Same. Immigrant parents with very little education. They were low-wage workers until they had enough to start a small business. All four of their children are all college graduates, successful in their chosen professions. This doesn’t happen by accident; they worked hard to make this possible.

I recall him being intimidating because he was so good at his job. I learned a lot from him at Illinois.

I had forgotten my water bottle at home during a trip out to run errands, including a stop at Costco. I bought a bottle of water from their vending machine for 25 cents. Is there anything one can buy for 25 cents anymore?

Which is why it’s a mistake for people to say “we are not like this”. People very much are capable of truly heinous acts without too much thought. I hear those dehumanizing ICE ads on tv occasionally and I get a glimpse at how radio primed a populace for genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

What’s your source? I don’t see this being reported anywhere. I only see a link to instagram and to threads. Presumably one of those since you cut off the name of the original of the original poster.

I remember laughing at this so hard, especially since I have the book by a similar name

That Halloween thing didn’t happen in the suburbs; that was a Chicago neighborhood. All of what you’ve said is sus as it’s all wrong. I haven’t heard anything about the agents’ arrests and I live in Chicago.
