I am on the fence about this book. The portrayal of grief and underlying unresolved issues, and how it affects and manifests itself, much to the detriment of the grieved is captured realistically, but the addition of filler characters and plot lines draws away from the emotional resonance of loss

its underwhelming and in certain parts of the novel the unnecessary addition of certain scenes and the lengthly over stretch of self recriminations starts to lose it importance in the arc of the story.

So far I am liking the book. The set up is interesting, meeting your past and future to excavate a deep repressed memory/secret and make amends with it. The prose is slow… but it swells when the drama needs to be swell.
