That’s how I feel about my D&D game. Government using fear of a cult (which is actually pulling the strings in said government) to target unregistered mages and begin kidnapping them. It wasn’t supposed to be an allegory 😫

Peter’s looks like he’ll vote against it. Slotkin has been a massive disappointment, but she’s highlighting how the budget cuts Medicaid so maybe she recognizes the harm it will do.

We need to be more progressive, and to stop meeting the right half way. This is why American politics keeps shifting further and further right. Democrats try to save face and end up giving an inch every time Republicans ask for it. Here we are, a mile later.

All of which are accusations based on circumstantial evidence and hearsay. His “violent history” was a DV issue that his wife refuses to press charges after they handled the matter privately in therapy. He has still not been convicted of any crime.

Oh for sure. As I was saying in a different thread, I think mostly we’re calling out her hypocrisy. As a trans woman myself, I didn’t really see any issue in calling her plastic surgery “gender affirming care”.

Since we were talking about appearance and permanent choices regarding it, it was probably implied that when I most mostly using it as a metaphor, or perhaps more accurately as an analogy to better articulate my point. I whole-heartedly think people should be allowed to change whatever they want.

You’re still missing relevant context. We’re not slamming anyone for “being ugly”. We’re slamming them for “choosing to be ugly”.

Your “logic” is skipping a step. It’s the choice that matters. Nobody chooses to be fat, *maybe* they made choices to get them there (overeating, sedentary lifestyle, etc), but that’s often a symptom of some other factor outside their control, (ie mental or physical health problems).

Going after someone’s appearance is not okay if they had no choice/they were born that way. This woman CHOSE to look that way. We absolutely can criticize her choices, especially when they are as hypocritical as they are.

Yes typo sorry. There are millions more than the 78mil who wish for a better country for ALL Americans. But apathy and disillusionment has caused our worst case scenario, we’re descending into a dark future, and this slope is slippery indeed.
