Had a day in bed because my body suggested, no freaking demanded it. However, I did make it to a lovely little place called Cafe Popular. I knew the universe wanted me here when I opened the menu. Sometimes you do get a sign that these are your people.

As y’all know, I do love to travel and find interesting new drinks and while I often find mixology to be educational…this was not on my bingo card when I went out tonight. It is listed under “refreshing” so there’s that.

So, it’s coming along beautifully. Had to use two pots. It’s a jumbo gumbo.
It’s marinating in itself while the beer bread cools.

Afternoon of finding tipsy. A Kensington Market gem in Toronto. I HIGHLY suggest a journey here. Explore the mezcal. The place is so casual- they will seat others at your table if they run out of room, and you make new friends while eating tacos and imbibing your cares away on the patio.

Found a new drink that could be an evening go-to. Met a young sommelier who came up with it. There wasn’t a good name, so we’re going with Canadian Highlands.

1oz maple syrup
1oz lemon juice
You can play with ratios on the bourbon/scotch for +\~ smoky aftertaste.

Tried a new drink last night! Always a favourite pastime. It’s a bourbon based called the REVOLVER (if u use Bullet, the name makes more sense). 2oz bourbon, add 0.5 oz of Kahlua coffee liquor and a few drops of orange bitters. (Bonus is the flamed orange peel garnish.)
