Sorry I don’t think I made myself clear. I’m Canadian and I’m furious. I just mean the justified fury we all feel toward Americans feels like it’s going to turn into something ugly on a person to person level.

The overt hatred I’m seeing directed toward Americans is wild. I genuinely fear for the safety of Americans in Canada.

It’s a social order they’ve been taught and ultimately learned to love. They react to its jostling with hostility because they prefer the comforts of the familiar irrespective of how violent and unjust it actually is. This isn’t an opposition to violence it’s fear of the unknown.

Their position isn’t one of opposition to violence and murder. They sit on their hands every day and watch such things happen around them. What they are experiencing is the discomfort at seeing a social order they’ve gotten used to get jostled.

Canadian here. I urge all Americans to take a lesson from the story of Henry Morgentaler. A physician who broke Canadian law to provide abortions and got away with it because Canadian juries repeatedly refused to convict him.

He was awarded the order of Canada.
