Complaining about the deficit is only ever a ploy to justify cuts to social services. The bulk of the gop actually loves to drive the deficit up so that they can use it as a club to beat on social programs later.

She knows that the only way to win her "case" is in the opinion of her base. I doubt they have any illusions about actually going to trial and winning. But this is for politics, not justice.

An actual check? Much less so. The main differences will be over various flavors of right-wing politics.

We need to accept that that the GOPs strategy is to take something they don't like, such as the IRS or public education or health insurance, and try to wreck it, then argue it needs to be eliminated or privatized. This play has been run many times before.
