‘A life of dignity should not be reserved for a fortunate few’ isn’t a populist mantra or a hard-to-grasp aspiration. It’s just common sense and human decency.

Hi there, I’ve been learning Japanese for over two years and am using AI for sentence construction and grammar. So I know the feeling. I’m the first one to scold my students for choosing shortcuts to language learning but I must admit it’s proved immensely helpful to get the feel of the language!

As a country with a long history of isolation, Japan has developed a unique take on world affairs and a unique vantage point. In a context of extremely polarised, often binary international politics, it offers a sort of reprieve, an ‘out’.
