No idea what I'm doing but had a bunch of seeds so decided to experiment

Edible flower mixture has sprouted. Also the arugula. I see some movement in the cress.

But it's a 3 season porch so I may have made a mess of the temperatures and planted the peppers too early.

Ah well... learning. 😁

Jewish Kidlit Joy: Post #3 I've been meaning to read RGB's Brave & Brilliant Women by Nadine Epstein for a couple of years. Presenting the biographies in chronological order worked well & helped emphasize how even when women were meant to be invisible, there were always those that stood out.

Jewish Kidlit Joy: Post #1

I'm reading 18 new (or new to me) Jewish kidlit books. The number 18, in Judaism, represents Chai or Life.

I just read Two Tribes by Emily Bowen Cohen and I can't say enough good things about this debut MG graphic novel about navigating identities (Jewish & Muskogee).

Day 4 of #scbwiartober2023 #scbwiArtober Smoky

The point of challenges like these are to experiment with new media (Procreate), play, and maybe shake yourself outside your comfort zone and see what comes up

I do like how Procreate makes sketches look a lot more polished than they deserve to look

The confluence of Lashon Hara ("evil tongue") and The Danger of a Single Story often results in the most harmful toxicity. One such story kept me up stewing way too late last night and resulted in a new Verbose Outline that I didn't actually want to write.

It was an honor and privilege to attend. What a fabulous week with these amazing people!

Now that the dust is settling from a hard re-entry back home followed by High Holidays, it's time to get back to work!
I spent the week at the Highlights Foundation with an amazing group of Jewish writers sponsored by the PJ Library. Being in community with them was absolutely amazing, and though I was supposedly teaching, I learned as much as taught.
