I had a nice time with a client at the British Library today - it's always fulfilling to introduce clients to new strategies (and for them) new websites! Here's a photo of the queue to get into the BL this morning. Suffice to say it was busy! #GenHour #Ancestry

Hello #GenHour I have been working on a new video for my Youtube channel all this week. Working in DaVinci Resolve - it's possibly the most complicated video I have done.

I have finally submitted my manuscript. I can't believe that after four years (with some difficult distractions along the way), it is done. Awaiting news of any amendments required then I can crack on with index. #Genealogy #Ancestry

Evening #GenHour. Show me your family photos with all or some of your cousins. Here's one of mine, my nan is on the left & to the right are many of her nephews & nieces. I asked mum who the young boy was down the front with the braces and she said it was her! 😂 "Should've gone to Specsavers!"

I don't care what she's done, whatever it is, she deserves it.

Oops that didn't go to plan. 😂

Earlier in the year I did a talk for the Society of Genealogists which is still available to Gold members. Here I traced the life and career of 18th century celebrity Mrs Wilson in 22 documents. members.sog.org.uk/events/65329... #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

those who thought they would qualify for outdoor relief and later for pensions. This was fairly widely reported in the newspapers. Unfortunately I decided not to include Ireland in my enumerator's book because it would end up too big! I have saved the material for later... anyway here's a snip: 2/2

The Great Hall has been restored, but it gives a good idea of what it looked like when my 10th gt grandfather rented the place. Why he rented it, when he was associated with other properties. is a question I still need to answer. #GenHour

In 2021 Peamore House went on sale and if back then I had had a spare £1,250,000 I could have bought a 'major proportion' of it. The brochure describes the property as 'dating back to the 16th century.' #GenHour

I had a little trouble finding Peamore and finally traced it to Exminster. Peamore House is shown on the 1888 OS: #GenHour

Folks, try not to study too intensely...

The key to finding this is to explore each sibling until we get a 'flag' that alerts us to other records. Then we can use visitations and BL manuscripts (formerly British Museum) plus I found one Devon site particularly useful. #GenHour

The last personal family history thing I was working on was the origins of these coat of arms. #GenHour
